Job Description:
The Department of Psychology at University College Birmingham (UCB) is seeking to appoint a passionate and innovative Associate Lecturer in Psychology to support its growing undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programs, launched in 2024. This is a full-time academic position ideal for individuals with a strong teaching orientation and a collaborative mindset.

Mode: Full-time | 37 hours/week
Salary Range: Β£30,805 – Β£37,174 per annum

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across the BPS-accredited psychology curriculum, particularly in core areas.
  • Support students’ academic progress and provide guidance for career and personal development.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of new, innovative psychology programmes aligned with real-world application.
  • Use and support the use of psychological research tools, equipment, and quantitative methods.
  • Engage in departmental activities, including curriculum development, assessment, and pastoral care.
  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders to ensure the employability and practical relevance of the academic offerings.
  • Integrate technology-enhanced learning methods into teaching practice.
  • Maintain high standards of student engagement, academic excellence, and professional ethics.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A degree in Psychology (minimum of Master’s; a PhD is advantageous)
  • Experience in teaching Psychology at the Higher Education level
  • Familiarity with British Psychological Society (BPS) curriculum and academic standards
  • Proficiency in quantitative research methods, statistics, and psychology-related technical tools
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • A creative and student-centered approach to learning and teaching

Additional Information:

  • All candidates must undergo an Enhanced DBS Check prior to employment.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda in education is essential.
